General Building Cleaning in Germany Industry Data and Analysis

DR
David Riemeier
Analyst Frankfurt, Germany September 2025

Turnover in the commercial cleaning industry is expected to fall by 1.3% to 24.5 billion euros in 2025. Since 2020, the industry has only seen moderate growth averaging 0.6% per year. This is primarily due to the deterioration in the business climate since the start of the pandemic, which has led to a decline in the number of commercial enterprises and thus demand for cleaning services. The shift of many employees to working from home has led to a significantly reduced presence in offices and thus to a shrinking demand for cleaning services in office buildings. In addition, the trend towards flexible working models and the increased price level are having a dampening effect on the willingness of many companies to commission external cleaning service providers.
